We’re all busy, just a short note for this topic…
Feeling useful and purposeful is rewarding, we feel great while we’re in demand, feel like heroes when we’re putting out fires all over the place but… how often do we find ourselves doing busyness while not really moving things along?
It can seem like the time it takes to step back to plan what the next best steps are or review progress is wasted unproductive time which could be better spent doing ‘more’.
But is it wasted? Really?
Stopping to check the map when in unfamiliar territory is invaluable.
Questions we need to ask
- are we going in the right direction?
- is this where we meant to be at this time?
- do we even know where we are?
- is the destination still a good place to aim for?
- do we even have a destination?
If we don’t take time to pause and check we could be running in the wrong direction or completely missing something big and important.
Are we rushing past the gold mine we didn’t know existed when we set off for our original destination?
Even if we are exactly where we meant to be and heading in the right direction we can take comfort in that and pat ourselves on the back. Enjoy the satisfaction.
Time taken to review and plan is never wasted.
